  • The main feature of Sussex Elementary's outdoor classroom design is an amphitheater style classroom that could also be used for other outdoor extra-curricular activities.
  • The Sussex Elementary design features a unique 'Acadian Forest Garden' to simulate the surrounding Acadian Forest, a unique mixed forest eco-region.
  • Students and staff will plant mixes of flowers, plants and trees that are indigenous to the area.

  • Sussex Elementary is located in Sussex, NB, a community of about 5,000 residents, which mainly derives its income from mining, agriculture and forestry.

Our school, Sussex Elementary in School District 6, is the only New Brunswick school out of 10 finalist for the Majesta Trees of Knowledge Competition 2012. The winning school will be identified through an online voting process that starts on March 28and runs until May 11th. Students are not allowed to vote. Voting is restricted to parents and the greater community!
Keeping with the qualities of this province our community is New Brunswick itself! If we are successful our school will receive a $20,000 grant for an outdoor classroom. One lucky voter will win $10,000 dollars for their participation in the voting process!!
